Eric Lankinen is a proven, internationally experienced, results-driven strategic leader and operations executive. He has a demonstrated track record building businesses and managing growth and change, as well as M&A experience evaluating opportunities and successfully integrating acquisitions. Eric is a respected and innovative problem solver with strong planning skills and implementation abilities.
Eric joined BCA Research in 1986 as head of technology and then proceeded to have a progressive 25 years career with the company, becoming a partner and COO. Over this period of time, the Montreal-based business grew from a small boutique to the world’s largest independent investment research provider and largest subsidiary of Euromoney Institutional Investor, PLC, a FTSE 250 company. Working closely with the CEO and senior management, he was instrumental in crafting and implementing successful strategies to significantly drive revenue growth – expanded product line, developing a global sales presence, etc.
Euromoney acquired Ned Davis Research, a financial research firm based in Venice, Florida in 2011 for $112 million. Having looked at buying the business in the past while with BCA, Eric was asked by Euromoney to develop the acquisition strategy and be actively involved in due diligence. He was appointed CEO upon closing. He then developed and with Board approval successfully implemented a three years post acquisition strategy – built an international sales force, reorganized the product line, shifted revenue model, etc.
After the completion of the NDR integration, Eric co-founded HexaB, a management consulting boutique providing practical solutions to help businesses transform in order to move to the next level. Through this venture he is able to leverage over 30 years of experience building businesses, utilizing his strategic planning skills, and hands on experience with acquisitions, marketing, sales management and product development. Working closely with business owners, the firm focuses on start-ups and companies in transition, which dovetails well with the one constant in Eric’s career – growth and change.
Eric has an Honors B.Sc. in Computer Science and Mathematics from Laurentian University and was awarded the Governor General of Canada’s Gold Medal. He has attended numerous leadership and executive management programs including those at the Kellogg School of Management and the University of Cambridge. He has judged John Molson MBA International Case Competitions and enjoys being a mentor to entrepreneurs through his involvement with Futurpreneur Canada.
