Members of Anges Québec invest in SCL Elements and in CAN2GO solutions

Montreal, April 14, 2011 – Anges Québec proudly announces funding for Montreal-based SCL Elements, which has developed CAN2GO building automation energy efficiency solutions, through a group of 11 private investors, including Yves Racine, President of Blizzard Technologies Inc.

SCL Elements have developed breakthrough solutions for managing all of a building’s systems, including lighting, ventilation, heating and air conditioning, with a single controller. These optimizations generate big energy savings and cut operating costs without affecting the comfort of occupants. CAN2GO solutions cover electrical, industrial, Internet and wireless standards, earning them an Innovation Award at the 2011 AHR Expo, the biggest industry trade show in North America.

Funding from Anges Québec will speed up the commercialization of this cutting-edge product in an expanding market. As entrepreneur Simon Leblond of SCL Elements pointed out, “Rapidly growing companies like ours often need an injection of capital at the right time to keep up the pace. The experienced investors at Anges Québec recognized an opportunity and acted on it. With this funding, we can increase production to meet the strong demand and open new markets by outstripping the competition.”

The angel investor behind the project, Yves Racine, will sit on the SCL Elements board of directors. Formerly the director of international business development with Cooper Power Systems and cofounder of Cybectec, his comprehensive knowledge of the control and energy efficiency industries will give added value to the investment. Mr. Racine was impressed by this innovative product that is perfectly attuned to today’s market, “Cutting energy consumption and costs has become a major issue for companies not only across North America, but worldwide. This dynamic young company, and the potential of a product that provides an effective solution to energy savings, convinced me to invest in the project.”
