Mirametrix obtains financing from a group of angel investors
(Montréal, December 11th, 2013) – Mirametrix announces that it has obtained private funding led by Jean-François Grenon, a very active member of the Anges Québec network, with the participation of several angel investors from the Montreal financial community. Mirametrix is a technology company specializing in human-machine interaction and holds innovative patents in eye tracking. The result of a University of British Columbia research program, Mirametrix began operations in Montreal in 2011, with the help of $1.2 M in seed funding from TamdemLauch Technologies. Since then, Mirametrix has become a leader in natural interfaces with over 250 clients in 42 countries, including Amazon, Microsoft, Intel, Ubisoft and McGill, Harvard and Stanford universities.
Unlike its competitors, Mirametrix technology is software-only and hardware-agnostic.. This technical uniqueness allows manufacturers of tablets, laptops and televisions to easily integrate Mirametrix technology in their new products to offer novel user interaction experiences by combining sight with touch, gesture and voice. The first laptop computers to integrate Mirametrix technology are expected in fall 2014 and the first intelligent televisions will appear in 2015. “Today Mirametrix is marketing the third generation of a technology that positions the company as leader in a market where it sells over 2.5 billion units per year,” said Jean-François Grenon.
Mirametrix also appointed Denis Lavallée as its president and CEO. This career entrepreneur with over 25 years of achievements in new technology startups in Canada, Europe and the United States said: “Our association with the Anges Québec network is the first step in a funding plan to support a global business development strategy that positions Mirametrix as strategic technology partner of the largest electronic equipment manufacturers.”
