Celebrating Robert Brouillette, Boréas Semiconductor and Sportlogiq

Montréal, June 16, 2017 – Anges Québec topped off another successful year by highlighting the accomplishments of some of its network’s members who were particularly notable, at the third edition of the Anges Québec Awards on Thursday. Angel Robert Brouillette was awarded the title of Angel of the Year, Sportlogiq was chosen as Business of the Year, while the honour of Investment of the year went to Boréas Semiconductor Inc.

The gala was also an opportunity to highlight the growth of Anges Québec’s activities over the past year. The network just passed 200 members, spanning 12 administrative regions of Québec, from many different backgrounds. This rapid development led Anges Québec to create new sectoral cells in order to foster expertise consolidation within the organization.

“This year’s winners illustrate the strength and dynamism of Anges Québec: experienced investors dedicated to supporting entrepreneurs who are committed to innovation and, above all else, successful businesses that are already driving Québec’s economy. We are very proud of this third edition of the Anges Québec Awards”, explains Michel Brûlé, President of the board of directors.

In addition to serving as vice president of the board of directors and active member of Anges Québec, Robert Brouillette is a lawyer, engineer and a trademark agent accredited in Canada and the United States. He is a Canadian leader in the field of direct sales and is a recognized expert in intellectual property and technology law.

Founded in Montréal in 2014, Sportlogiq developed a unique image processing technology enabling it to generate real-time advanced statistics for the hockey industry. Most notably, the National Hockey League Teams (NHL) and broadcasters use its products.

Based in Bromont, Boréas Semiconductor Inc. designs innovative high-voltage, low-power integrated circuits for new applications and energy savings. Its products are marketed to the smartphone and virtual reality industries.

Quotes from the Winners

“I always wanted to help people flourish and that’s why I became involved with Anges Québec right from the beginning. We are investors, but also mentors who can help the next generation to avoid making the same mistakes we made. I am particularly proud to have been able to contribute to the growth of entrepreneurs by opening doors for them, while allowing them to remain major and active owners in their companies. Aside from the honour I receive today, this is my greatest reward.”

Robert Brouillette, 2017 Angel of the Year

“This unexpected recognition completes a year that has gone beyond expectations for our company. The support of Anges Québec has enabled us to quintuple our workforce. What was not too long ago a simple concept, Boréas Semiconductor has now reached the stage of a project that is in the process of being marketed. This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our partners.”

Simon Chaput, President of Boréas Semiconductor Inc., 2017 Investment of the Year

It’s such an honour to receive this title. Over the past year, Sportlogiq has become a key player in the hockey industry by entering into agreement with 21 teams from the National Hockey League and major broadcasters. We are more than 20 professionals working in Montréal and we plan to add more to our teams shortly. This would never have been possible without the support of Anges Québec and our partners. »
