Frederic Bastien

A key figure of the Montreal tech ecosystem, Fred spent the last 20 years at the forefront of the mobile, data and AI industries. As the founding CEO of Mnubo in 2012, he has built a team of 60+ IoT and AI world-class experts, raised over $20M in venture capital, and led its successful >$100M acquisition by NASDAQ’s Aspen Technologies.

Through his involvement as advisor to venture capital funds and mentor at Creative Destruction Lab, NextAI, HyperCroissance Quebec and several other accelerators, Fred currently helps and coaches a dozen startups and sits on several board of directors, including Hilo, Hydro-Quebec’s energy transition subsidiary, ENCQOR, Canada’s first pre-commercial 5G corridor and Anges Québec.

His track record in innovation, international commercialization and M&A was recognized through multiple awards, including Quebec’s 2014 EY Emerging Entrepreneur of the year and the 2014 PWC Vision to Reality award, as well as the 2017 ADRIQ Innovation Award. Fred holds a B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering – Telecommunications from École Polytechnique de Montréal.
