Gyuri has been investing in and nurturing early stage technology companies for the past 5 years. His initial investments were in Budapest, Hungary-based companies: Arenim Technologies, Allpacka.com/Furge Futar. Since his move back to Montreal in 2017, he has invested in a number of Montreal-based early stage ventures: Nimbus Tutoring, FoodRelay and Contxtful, the latter two through Anges Quebec.
Before “Angel Investing”, Gyuri had a career in private equity, venture capital and strategy consulting in the US, France, the UK and in Emerging Europe (CEE). Over the years he held various investment, operational and management positions at Astorg Partners (F), Julius Baer Capital (US/CH), Baring Private Equity Partners (UK), EBRD (UK), Telesis (F), PwC (F), and Mercer Consulting (US).
Gyuri is a graduate of McGill University (BSc in Honours Physics, 1975; Horace Watson Gold Medal in Physics), and Harvard University (PhD in Engineering – decision analysis, 1980). He has been a member of the Alumni Council of Harvard University’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences since 2004.
