Brian King’s is a tenured Professor in the Entrepreneurship and Innovation department at HEC Montréal, in what he considers his ‘third career’. A native Montrealer, his first career was as an Engineer: after graduating from University of Waterloo in Mechanical Engineering, Brian designed coffee brewing mechanisms and was granted two U.S. patents. His second career was in Business; after obtaining his MBA from Stanford in California he became President of Filterfresh Coffee Service in Boston, a wholly owned subsidiary of A.L. Van Houtte, and grew it through multiple acquisitions. Brian then earned a PhD in Administration at McGill University, studying the strategy of venture capital firms, before joining HEC Montréal. Brian has made successful angel investments and been on the advisory boards of companies in the medical, media and education fields.
